Conventional Chlorinator:

An automatic chlorinator provides addition of the chemical at a consistent rate and make control much easier than when using other approaches.  Pentair provides a conceptually simple and very effective device and its maintenance is described at the bottom of this page.

Once each week, the cap at the top of the cylinder should be unscrewed (after shutting down circulation pumps) and filled with 3" chlorine tablets.  Use caution to avoid loosing the "O Ring" gasket located in the screw cap.  The gasket should be inspected during each charging and replaced if it becomes hard or distorted to avoid development of water leaks in the areas of the screwed connection.  The numbered dial should be adjusted to higher numbers to increase addition and lower numbers to reduce chlorine level.  A good starting point for summer operation is a setting of 21/2.
